  A get away from it resort and island - Having spent the first part of our Thailand holiday in a super 5 star hotel, we were slightly concerned as to whether we had done the right thing in going... Read more to a tent for the second part of our holiday!
We need not have worried as the 9 Hornbills tent which are separate to, but part of the Kayao Island Resort was fantastic.
Everything you would want from a room, with super comfortable bed, living area and indoor bathroom and outdoor shower. And just outside your door, an alfresco dining area and then your own pool in your own gardens. Fantastic.
The views are out of this world. The sunrises are worth the early morning as were spectacular.
Breakfasts can be delivered to your tent, (both in pool or on table) or an electric buggy will pick you up to take you to the hotel's restaurant. We certainly preferred at tent dining.
Daily maid cleaning was efficient as was the nightly bug preparation, which seemed to keep the blighters away. Mosquitoe spray was provided and actually smelt OK - We didn't get a single bite so nothing to worry about there.
Perhaps the downside (but mostly an advantage) is you are remote from the hotel. When you want to go out, you need to phone for a buggy, but these were prompt and the people charming.
It is not a 5 Star resort, but the people are lovely and so keen to help. In the restaurant they employ local people and perhaps the service was not perfect, but when on holiday there should be no need to rush. The Spa was great and pleasingly not the crazy pricing of our previous hotel. The drinks were also priced reasonably. However greater bargains and food available on the small island. The hotel gave us some great tips of where to eat and their TukTuk was always available to take and bring us back.
They also arranged a couple of excursions for us, both were great and good value for money. The roads are so quiet hiring a scooter from the hotel is also a good possibility (not something I would say for Phuket!)
All in all, a very enjoyable stay. Could fault be found - Yes if you look hard enough, but when the staff are so supportive and friendly why look - just lay back and enjoy the wonders of Thailand

The villa is spacious, everything clean, excellent cleaning services. Varied breakfast. The staff is exceptional. Everything I asked for was done. Tim is a professional manager and a man you enjoy talking to. All the staff was at our disposal throughout our stay. You can rent kayaks and bicycles for free at the resort. Also, the hotel offers private trips to the islands in the area, we chose the trip with James Bond Island, everything was perfect. And to end the trip properly, our departure was provided by the hotel and the boat came directly to the beach to pick us up, we felt like VIPs. Thank you for everything! I highly recommend this resort! You will be left with beautiful memories and impressions!

  My boyfriend and I have been waiting for a long time to have a great holiday abroad after the few lockdowns. We were thinking a lot about where to go... Read more to in Thailand, there are honestly so many beautiful optiions! But we were most impressed by this specific hotel. Honestly, we have no complaints. The view was always breathtaking and highly enjoyable with sunsets, the customer service was always on top with our needs and friendly and even with my lactose intolerance, they were able to conjure a great and healthy dish. I highly recommend this wonderful hotel to all that are looking for a very relaxing, calm and friendly hotel, bound to nature. What I loved most about my experience was the authenticity of the hotel and the always helpful and smiling staff.

Could do with some more breakfast options and more stock but given it’s a remote island it’s wonderful the service we received. Massages are good, safe and beautiful resort and the sea is amazing to swim in! Can’t wait to be back!

This is really a great resort on one of the... Read more most beautiful beaches on the island. Unfortunately, the seawater is not completely clean, suspended matter and nettle plankton, but unfortunately this is now almost everywhere in Thailand.

We were first in a Sea Breeze Studio (17). The studio is rustic but tastefully decorated, it has everything you need. We had a cozy balcony with a sea view and felt very comfortable. However, due to the open room concept, you can hear noises from the neighboring studios, the bar below, the check-in area of the hotel and the restaurant or the kitchen. It wasn't loud, but you can hear more than you want to hear in your private living area. We then had the opportunity to change at an additional cost and moved to one of the Hornbill tents on the hill (30). Paradise is the right word, it was excellent, absolutely great, tasteful, clean luxury tent with everything you need. The private pool is the icing on the cake. We enjoyed every hour and would love to come back to such a Hornbill tent anytime.

The breakfast is delicious and varied (Asian, western and plentiful). The service is excellent. We had booked a special valentines dinner on the beach which was not perfect (meat and fish a bit dry) but the atmosphere and presentation of the food was nice. The staff is obviously trying and is very friendly.

Would love to come again!

The staff were very helpful and organised excursions and also tuk tuk and taxis to and from restaurants and village in the island.

The only slight downside was that the rooms were not mosquito proof and we didn’t know that before we went. So although the villas were beautiful there was a gap between the roof and wall. So it did feel like a constant fight with mosquitoes. That said misuse spray was provided to use.

The small restaurant caters for a variety of taste buds and offers breathtaking views, as do the quaint bar where one can relax at happy hour. The staff are all very friendly and go out of their way to ensure you experience true Thai hospitality.   Amazing place !!!! - Our family of three, including my son who is 14 years old, stayed 6 nights at Koyao Island Resort, which was probably the best place, we have ever stayed!!! We... Read more stayed at the family beach villa (number 15) right on the beach. The views from our bungalow was breathtaking and the swimming awesome and very safe. The bungalows are beautiful and luxurious with all the amenities you need for a relaxing stay, including e.g. a very cool outdoor bath/jacuzzi. We spent most of our time at the shaded beach-front terrasse playing games or reading while looking at the sea.

The hotel offers several complimentary activities, which we truly enjoyed, such as kayaking in the sea, biking around the island, yoga class twice a week, and receiving 30 minutes amazing massage per person.

Besides, the hotel also offers a wide selection of guided tours, which are private and very reasonably priced. We booked the full-day ‘Island discovery tour’ with a longtail boat that took us to 4 different islands, including Hong Island, for breathtaking views, swimming, snorkeling and picnicking on a private beach. The tour was awesome and our guide Jab was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and very funny. Also, we booked a half-day tuk-tuk tour around Koyao Noi with a local guide, which was a very authentic experience of local living on the island. The tour was a unique and memorable experience, and our charming guide, Lee, was very informative and welcoming.

The hotel also has a really amazing restaurant, Pum Pui Restaurant, which serves a huge selection of authentic thai food and some international courses as well. We ended up eating most of our meals at this restaurant as the food was incredibly delicious.

Also worth mentioning is that the staff at the hotel and restaurant are extremely friendly and attentive. Some of the staff played soccer with my husband and son a couple of times which was - according to my son - one of the most fun experiences he had during our 3 weeks in Thailand;)

  Just home (Australia) following an amazing experience at Koyao Island Resort ... 13 nights and 14 days of bliss. We can not recommend this resort highly enough.

The staff are AMAZING and DO make the holiday ... each and everyone of them plays an integral part is making it the experience it is.
